Venoscope Instructions
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
VENOSCOPE®II

Transilluminator/Vein Finder

The new Venoscope® II transilluminator utilizes an array of high intensity LED lights to transilluminate the patient’s subcutaneous tissue thereby highlighting the veins which absorb the light rather that reflecting it. The device is powered by 3 AA alkaline batteries. A low battery indicator will signal that the batteries need to be changed. There are two power levels for different applications.

The Venoscope® II vein finder is useful in every situation where peripheral veins must be accessed. It is applicable for obese adults as well as neonates and small children where traditional single pole transilluminators fail. It is an indispensable tool used by physicians for sclerotherapy and ambulatory phlebectomy. It has become the field nurses backup in the homecare setting and is very effective for hemophilia applications.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE

The device is used by placing it on the surface of the skin so that the light is directed down into the subcutaneous tissue. This is accomplished by dimming the ambient lighting as much as possible so as to provide the contrast needed to see the vein. As the light is moved longitudinally about the patient’s extremities, the clinician will be looking for a dark line presenting between the dual arms. Once a dark line is detected, pressing down on both arms will blanche the vein and releasing pressure will allow blood to flow again. This action verifies a soft patent vein. The clinician can also determine the direction of travel of the vein and note any bifurcation that needs to be avoided. The clinician can then mark the vein with a marking pin or some other method to present a target for the insertion of the catheter. The Venoscope II can be attached to the patient's arm by reversing the light and attaching the Velstretch Strap to the Velcro Pad on top of the light. This stabilizes the vein to prevent rolling and frees up both hands for the venipuncture.

The device carries a one year replacement warranty for any product defects or defects in workmanship. The cost of the device is $195.00 plus $5. shipping and handling.

The device may be wiped with alcohol or bleach solution but it must not be submerged. Disposable Protective Covers, packaged in handy packs of 50, are available to protect the device from contamination for infection control. The cost is $8.95 plus $5. per order for shipping and handling.

Compare the Venoscope® II to any transilluminator on the market and you will be amazed to see how much better and more useful it is at a fraction of the cost.
